At Pur Aesthetics and Wellness, we are excited to share platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) injections and how they can help your under-eye area and much more! Our clients are seeing results that they love! Let’s talk about the technology and then how it can help you.
How Do PRF Injections Work?
PRF is a substance made from your own blood. Let us explain! On the day of your treatment, we draw a small amount of your blood (like if you were getting labwork done.) Then that blood is spun in a centrifuge to create a concentrate to help your body heal!
We know the exact speed to spin your blood to get the best PRF. Other technologies use a high-speed centrifuge, but spinning blood slower improves the concentrate formed. We use the PRF as an injectable and let the body do the rest!
Think of the fibrin as a scaffolding of types. It is injected, and then platelets circulating in your body will be able to bind to that scaffolding. Our body has a complex clotting cascade in place, so when we have an injury, our body heals. Knowing those exact steps, we can encourage the body to “heal” wherever we inject PRF.
PRF For Under-Eye Area
We sometimes call the under-eye area our “tear trough.” It is a hollow area under our lower eyelid and above our cheekbones. As we age, that area can often look hollow, sunken in, or dark.
The tear trough area is a widespread complaint from my clients because they know that dark and sunken-in eyes can age them! The PRF injections described above can be injected into that hollowed-out area, and watch out….you’re going to love the results!
On the day of the injections, you won’t notice a huge difference, but give it time! Your body will work hard at healing and creating new cells! Then you’ll see the area becoming plumper and fuller!
Will PRF Get Rid of Dark Circles?
PRF can help improve the look of your under-eye areas in several ways! And yes, dark circles are one of those ways! Skin tone is improved when PRF injections are given under-eye.
Clients also comment the crepiness under their eye improves! Tone, texture, and skin laxity all improve when PRF injections are used. Some of the darkness associated with under-eye areas is shadow, so that improves when the volume is restored, too!
How Long Will PRF Injections Last?
PRF injections usually last from 6 months to 1 year; of course, each client is different. We find that a lot of our clients come in for a series of 3 injections, spaced out by 4-6 weeks at first.
Then once the results they want have been achieved, they are able to come in once a year and maintain their healthy under-eye volume and glow!
Who is a Good Candidate for PRF Injections?
We love PRF because it is a natural treatment option. We use your body’s cells, making it safer….but of course, we need to ensure you’re a good candidate for PRF injections. You shouldn’t be on any meds that interfere with blood clotting (like blood thinners); you should be overall healthy and have realistic expectations about the PRF injections.
Other Ways PRF Injections Can Be Used
We love PRF injections for the under-eye area! But that’s not the only reason we use it. PRF promotes healing and cell growth in many places! We see improvements in skin texture when PRF is combined with microneedling. This can help with texture concerns from fine lines to acne scars and much more!
